Myopia Management
WHAT IS MYOPIA?
Myopia, also known as nearsightedness, is a common vision problem that affects nearly 30% of people in the United States. Nearsightedness causes distant objects to appear blurry or out of focus.
Myopia is when your eye is growing faster and longer than it should. This can cause the eyes to become weaker, both optically and structurally. Children with myopia will see their vision get worse as they grow, so early intervention is key.
At C U Tomorrow Eyecare, we offer various myopia management options that can help slow the progression of myopia and reduce the risk of serious eye conditions down the road.
Book an appointment today and we can help determine which myopia management option can work for you.
NEARSIGHTEDNESS & KIDS
Myopia often develops during childhood. Children who spend lots of time indoors, reading, or using screens can be at an increased risk of developing myopia.
It can affect kids’ ability to learn and perform in school, as they may have difficulty seeing the board. Controlling myopia early can reduce your child’s reliance on corrective contact lenses and glasses later in life, and reduce their risk of developing certain eye conditions.
Book an appointment with us today for an assessment and personalized treatment plan to help manage your child’s nearsightedness and slow its progression.
TYPES OF MYOPIA CONTROL
We manage myopia through different types of treatments. That includes the use of specialty contact lenses, eye drop medication, and MiSight.
ATROPINE EYE DROPS
When applied to the eyes, atropine relaxes the focusing muscles inside the eyes, reducing their ability to focus on close objects.
These drops can help slow down myopia progression in children over time, by signalling the eye to stop growing and blocking stimulation that triggers the conditions.
MYSIGHT
Is a FDA-approved contact lens that corrects your child’s vision and has treatment zones that influence how the eye grows.
MiSight has been clinically studied in children and they have 10 years of data showing it is safe and effective.
